If you have never celebrated Tu BiShvat before and we were to tell you that this is the New Year of the Trees and the beginning of spring, you would most likely look out the window and start laughing. After all, the January date (sometimes early February) is not usually synonymous with lots of good in Hungary.
Perhaps a better motivating factor for celebrating the holiday will be that we get to eat a lot (more precisely, 15 types) of delicious fruits (healthy, isn’t it?). and that we Jews also have an environmentally conscious holiday. And lastly, we don’t have to eat deep-fried oily carbs for eight days (As delicious as it was).
We hope that these small facts sounded intriguing enough for you to delve a bit into the meaning and the essence of Tu BiShvat. :)
